Obviously folks of the 4 Methodist church’s in the area will be finding a change rather daunting. Unfortunately we can’t look at this from a personal point of view or just because we have gone to one particular church for many years. The Methodist church is the Methodist church wherever we may go. It isn’t a competition to see who wins but to be able to maintain and afford a building or buildings in the area where we can all still worship the Lord in a safe and pleasant environment.
If people wish to look to the past can we look at the Heritage of the Methodist church in the area. I believe Trimley was the first site going back to 1839, with the modern replacement in 1989.
Seaton Rd, original church 1863 and the 2nd during the 1930s and so has 2 buildings to maintain.
Trinity I believe was 1885, not sure if there was any previous worship house before. This being the largest of the 4 churches but containing a hall as well. There is enough space for large weddings & funerals and as a Town centre church has passing trade some times.
Kirton built 1886, not many buses to Kirton. Has the exception of a garden but not used in the winter.
We need to look at the achievable aims for the future, easy to look after but with enough space for regular activities. In a central location or a least a regular bus route. Having a service at 10am gives people using buses less time to get there on a Sunday bus service timetable.
It would be nice if there was one church Trimley area for the locals and save traveling
I’m personally disappointed if we do not have a Vicar again, some of us enjoy the spiritual guidance of a vicar. I also believe the Vicar should be given more say in the running of their parish and it is only polite to let them have the last word in meetings including Council.
May I conclude to say Outreach work is fine as long as we have the man power and it doesn’t take over from everything else inside the church. Thank you.
